Purpose.
This home began with restraint, choosing quality, longevity and landscape over maximum yield. On what would become the last house site in the street, the brief called for a simple three-bedroom home with one living space, designed to remain manageable and deeply enjoyable for decades. Mature trees, generous landscaping and a strong connection to the river preserve the sheltered character of the original cottage, while off-form concrete and frameless glazing give the new home a sense of permanence, creating a quiet retreat within an increasingly urban setting.
