The Builders own home. What do you build for yourself? No client to instruct what to do, and not to do. It can be the most daunting build for any builder.

The allotment backed onto a private golf course, which naturally invited the living space to be at the rear to embrace the available open space. Next on the brief was the inner court pool which would capture northern light and act as a much-needed distraction for what would otherwise be a long hallway.

Obsessive detail is what sets this modest size home apart from its peers. The flush fitting clerestory glazing to the master ensuite sets the tone, from the very start. The oversized pivot door opens to reveal the inner court and plunge pool in its full splendour along with the first glimpse of the distant golf course. As the journey continues, the cedar-lined walls catch the eye, however, it also conceals hidden doorways, adding a purity that would otherwise not be possible. To the left of the cedar walls, one is drawn to the daybed which is strategically located at the base of the pool, a place to sit and read or just lay back and relax. The journey concludes with the generous living module consisting of kitchen, dining and family room, all opening out to the east where the manicured golf course reveals its vast scale. Lowset and liveable, this home is a showcase of the builder's attention to detail.
